Hurt or sad, I really couldn't say. All I know is that I spent hours fraying, rolling, and sewing this hat layer-on-layer (March, April?). So when I saw this pictures I thought, "Do people really care about the feelings of others?" After seeing this picture I guess I just snapped, resulting in this post. Forgive me; I should be more of an adult. My daughter said, "I warned you." One of my best friends said a couple of years ago that "Milliners are the most vicious people I know." Both feel that I'm just too generous. I remain positive. I will never say that I made a hat that I did not make.
Lee, I do not know what was the original idea behind the hat and hw you invisioned it to be worn, but I can tell you rom my perspective that it looks very high fashioned. At first, I even thought is it made of fine lace and I though the color is absolutely divine. I can see why you could get upset: the model is probably wrong and the coolor of the dress is just... also wrong :-))) Please, do not let it bring you down. the hat is the best part of this picture. I would wear it in a heart beat!
ReplyDeleteMillinery, or any creative endeavor, should be a joyous experience. And a Guild of any kind should be a safe haven for people to learn from one another and celebrate, respect, and support each other. I just want you to know that there are people who do care about other people's feelings!
ReplyDeleteWishing you nothing but happiness.
Hi Anya,
ReplyDeleteThanks much. I'm just so disgusted with certain events associated with this. I just need it to go away.
Thanks Colleen,
ReplyDeleteI know that there are wonderful good people in the world, and I feel that in you. You're correct about what a guild should be. Further, it cannot be dominated by one person and one person only; it should represent all members and not just a few--callings cards and a few others. We'll get over this; therapy is always good :))

Hi Lee,
ReplyDeleteI am not sure exactly why you are sad and angry. Is it because you don't like the way the hat looks on the model? Is it because the hat was not supposed to be used for this picture (copyright)? Did someone copy your idea? In all 3 cases, there was a lack of respect. We all work hard with lots of passion and integrity. Hard when not everyone has the same agenda. No, your reaction is not childish, it's human. I would feel exactly the same.
Take care,
Hi Mon Bibi,
ReplyDeleteIt's because someone that I know, laughed, and talked with on a regular basis said that they made this hat, when actually I made it. It's because there were others that I know that worked hard to make their own hats but were not allowed to participate in this show. It's because of the humiliation and pain some of them suffered.... It's because, although I resigned from this madness several months ago, I still know people that talk to me about it. I could go on and on but as another former member said to me, "What's done in the dark will come to the light."
